Get the idea? Those are some of the more traditional CTAs that we are inundated with daily.
There are some key principles when writing a good Call to Action:
- It should be short and sharp
- Use verbs and convey a sense of urgency
- Make it stand out by using buttons, links, bold type
When utilising social media, the end goal is usually to increase:
- Engagement with your followers
- Traffic to your website
- Sales or Clients
You can include text such as ‘double tap to like’, ‘Tag a friend who needs this in their life’, ‘Comment down below’ or ‘Save this to refer back to later’.
By including a CTA you are persuading your audience to do something, without experiencing decision fatigue. The key is to keep encouraging potential clients or customers to stay engaged with you.
According to Facebook research, you only have 2 seconds to make an impact before your post is scrolled past, so make it as easy as you can to direct your customers to where you want them to go. Include a link if you want to direct your followers to your website after your CTA. There are other ways that you can include a CTA in your posts rather than a link, see some examples below.
The wording you use in your CTA should be determined by your goal. Ask yourself, what do you want your audience to do? What do I want to achieve from this? You need to tailor your CTA to suit the outcome you desire. If it is to entice people to sign up for a program you are running, you might use the same CTA across all your marketing channels, ‘Click here to register’, including your link. Once clicked it will take the user through to a registration page on your website. This can be rolled out across social media, email marketing campaigns and on your website homepage.
